Oh, there are so many...

I really love "You might wake up dead tomorrow" - Homer Simpson... That's a classic!

'Power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely'

Oh yes, and I like the quote on my signature! It's very ironic.

If you love something set it free, if it comes back set it on fire

There are a lot of quotes i really like, one i saw mentioned a couple of times:

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return."-Nat King Cole 'Nature boy'
(the first time i heard that was when i watched Untamed Heart, and it was such a beautiful version in that movie, unfortunatly when i tried to tell people about the song no one knew what the hell i was talking about till Moulin Rouge came out.)

"Once, long ago, before there was such
a thing as time, the world was shrouded
in darkness.
Then came the splendor of light,
bringing life and love into the Universe,
and the Lord of Darkness retreated deep
into the shadows of the earth, plotting
his return to power....by banishing light
forever.
But precious light is protected,
harbored into the souls of Unicorns, the
most mystical of all creatures.
Unicorns are safe from the Lord of
Darkness, they can only be found by
the purest of mortals....Such a mortal
is Jack, who lives in solitude with the
animals of the forest.
A beautiful girl named Lily loves Jack
with all of her heart. In their innocence, they believe only goodness exists in the world.
Together they will learn there can be
no good without evil....No love without
hate....No heaven without hell....No light
without darkness.
The harmony of the Universe
depends upon an eternal balance. Out
of the struggle to maintain this balance
comes the birth of Legends. " -Legend

my favorites are:

Goddamn, this business is really
lame
I gotta live on an island to find
riches
So you send me your love from
all around the world
As if I could live on words and
dreams and a million screams
Oh how I need a hand in mine
to feel. -Weezer =\/\/=

~*stop looking at me in that tone of voice!*~

~*hell is a great place to be cuz u can complain all you want...no one has it worse than you*~

How stupid is it? For all I know you want me too
And maybe you just don't know what to do

Whee! Quotes! Melikes!

"When authorities warn you of the sinfulness of sex, there is an important lesson to be learned. Do not have sex with the authorities." -Matt Groening, Life In Hell

"Better lives have been lived in the margins, locked in the prisons and lost on the gallows than have ever been enshrined in palaces." -Propaghandi

"i pledge allegiance to the flag of the multi national corporations and to the profit for which they stand one interlocking directorate under no home government divisible for monopoly and cheap labor for all" -Utah Phillips

"When u start to talk to ur food, start worrying... when it talks back, shoot yourself."

"If you're one in a million, then there are still thousands of other people just like you."

"Cursed are the believers of good and evil for they are frightened by shadows." <--- Anton LaVey

"Bad spelling can be lethal. For example, the greedy Seriph of Al-Yabi was cursed by a badly-educated deity and for some days everything he touched turned to Glod, which happened to be the name of a small dwarf from a mountain community hundreds of miles away who found himself magically dragged to the kingdom and relentlessly duplicated. Some two thousand Glods later the spell wore off. These days, the people of Al-Yabi are renowned for being remarkably short and bad-tempered."<---Terry Pratchett, Witches Abroad

I always carry a post-it note pad and a pen in my purse because I like to remember things. I write them down in my journal, and maybe one day I'll read it and be like - wow, I'm glad I wrote that down....or maybe not.

"Sex is evil,
Evil is sin,
Sins are forgiven,
So STICK IT IN!!!"

"I'm not a tease, I'm just a reminder of what you can't have!"

"Your love is one in a million, it goes on and on and on..." -Aaliyah

"Do you believe in love at first sight? Or should I walk by again?"

"Girls are like phones, they like to be held and talked to, but push the wrong button and you'll get disconnected!"

Here is a couple plus the one in my signature.

"I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, keep me here".

I used this one fondly before the internet grew and exploded, but I find it's kind of appropriate given the context. It's by E.M. Forester and it's two words:

Only Connect.

...of course, I did some re-reading and found the rest of the quote which I like just as well

"Only connect the prose and the passion, and both will be exalted, and human love will be seen at it's height. Live in fragments no longer."

"After all, the soul travels a road that winds into eternity; where is the harm in speeding one’s passage on that voyage? Particularly when that soul has traversed in a path not altogether desirable. But then again, who are we to judge what is desirable and what is not? After all, perception is the looking glass through which we take in our surroundings and view our world, and that glass is tinted a different hue for each individual; in short, perception makes up our reality. This makes the glass cut both ways. On the one hand, it creates a magnificent diversity; an incomprehensible kaleidoscope of weltaanshaungs from which we may piece together the mysteries of existence and the multiverse. However, the light given off inevitably manages to cast equally strong shadows. The glass and its innumerable shades divide us from one another, sometimes subtly, sometimes wholly, leading to catastrophic results, from the parting of friends to the bitter verges of rival civilizations. The glass is not just a lens, it is a wall, one that many would see shattered, but simultaneously none would dare to succeed, for if that barrier were broken, the world would be one continuous stream of harmony. And though a beautiful harmony it would be, it would also be utterly devoid of melody, and therein lies the limits of a healthy paradise.
Melody is the colorful progeny of harmony, and should never be overshadowed by it. This definition, of course, far exceeds the realm of music, into the ever-augmenting fields of history and philosophy. Just as it is the melody of a famous tune we whistle, it is the trailblazers of history who are remembered, not the people who followed in their stead or supported them, but they too are important in their own way. For harmony exists solely to embellish melody; how vibrant would the reds in our life be in our eyes without the shades of gray to compare them to? -Matt Mckinney

"I know of no greater sin than to oppress the innocent in the name of God." - Mohandas Gandhi

"My goal is friendship with the whole word and I can combine the greatest love with the greatest opposition to wrong." - ibid.

"Real education consists in drawing the best out of yourself. What better book can there be than the book of humanity?" - idib.

And, as a politically relevant counterpoint (to anyone living in the US, at least...)

"What good fortune for those in power that people do not think." - Adolph Hitler.

"Why of course the people don't want war ... But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger." - Hermann Goering.

To Gandhi is where we should be going, and to Goering is where we are being led.

**he [God, i'm guessing] said: pain is the mother of change;
the rain must flow, so the seeds of joy might grow
don't be afraid find shelter in me
the road to greatness
through the valley of adversity
i felt the light: as he proceeded
to drop the gem,
these little children, the world we must recieve like them
i just smiled and thanked him for the cards
he dealt
and since then
the rain i never felt.

**will smith: the rain (half the last verse)**
i know i know - my favourite quote is from a will smith song, but hey - its nice innit?

it might sound silly, but hey, I love japanese comics, and the songs that come with them are just the best as well so my favorite beyond favorite quotes come from two of those songs (one of them is my signature).
The first one is from the opening song of Diginom (though I don't really like the anime):
Stay shigachi na imeeji darake no tayorinai tsubasa demo
Kitto toberu sa on my love
(Even with these unreliable wings, stained with images that tend to stay, I am sure we can fly, on my love)

And the second one is from Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne (which I love both the manga and the anime):
Dive into Shine Fukai yami mo
Hikari ni kawaru, sono shunkan, shinjiteru kara
(Dive into shine, even a deep darkness changes into shine, because I am believing the moment)

And a few of my current favourites:

"I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat..." -- Rebecca West

I collect gaming quotes for fun and I absolutely love these ones:

"I will drop you like a wet taco."

"So, who's going to start decrying the terrible racial wars in Chess, as the Black and White pieces refuse to admit they're all the same under their varnish and live peacefully?"

“Hey, man. We infiltrated the kitchen.”

“I cock my gun.”
“In public?!”

“I should just go back to playing angsty, computer nerds, shouldn’t I?”

Okay, so they're not all "gaming" quotes.

A few are notable to me:

"Even in the most primitive of societies, people still have an innate respect for the insane." - S.E. Hinton's Rumble Fish

"Do not cry because the sun has gone out, your tears may blind you to the stars." - Tagore

"Ooh! Look at me! I'm making people HAPPY! I'm the magical man! From Happy Land! Who lives in a gumdrop house on Lollipop Laaaane!!!…By the way, I was being sarcastc." "Well DUH." - Homer and Marge, the Simpsons

"Sure Marge, I'll get along with them! And then, I'll go hug some snakes. YES! I'll HUG and KISS some poisonous SNAKES!!!…Now THAT's sarcasm." - Homer Simpson

"All the modern things, like cars and such, have always existed. They've just been waiting in a mountain for the right moment, listening to the irritating noises of dinosaurs and people dabbling outside." - Bjork's "The Modern Things"

…Ah, there are more but I'll leave it there.

i cant think of many right of my head but i like:

"Luke, you're going to find that many of the truth's we cling to, depend greatly on out own point of veiw" --Star War's The Return of the Jedi.

"In an age of nothing, at a time when we stand at the brink of out own destruction - strengthen your belief in yourslf, in the furure of humanity, in the things of this world which cannot easily be perseived. Awaken that which lies dormant now within your soul. re-ignite the flame of youre consciousness, and measure the strength of your conviction. Reveal the lie. Renounce your hatred. Seek, find, and embrace the truth's you are fortunate enough to discover. Cherish them, use them to anchor you in the sea of chaos that is the world we live in. When twilight draws near, when you are pushed to the very limits of your soul. When it seems that all you have left are the dead remnants of the fabric of your life-Believe" --Disturbed

Sorry it's kinda a long one

Later Day's
Simon

"A True Fried Stabs You In The Front"

"As memory may be a paradise from which we cannot be driven, it may also be a hell from which we cannot escape."

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."

"All of us, at certain moments of our lives, need to take advice and to receive help from other people."

"Laughter cannot mask a heavy heart. When the laughter ends the grief remains."

Life and death. Energy and peace. If I stopped today, it was still worth it. Even the terrible mistakes that I have made, and would have unmade if I could. The pains that have burned me and scarred my soul. It was worth it for having been allowed to walk where I've walked, which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, though it, in it and above..." - Gia -

If I make a fool of myself, who cares? I'm not frightened by anyone's perception of me." - Angelina Jolie-

I am doing things that are true to me. The only thing I have a problem with is being labeled-Angelina Jolie-

sorry there's alot there..I LOVE QUOTES
