Yesterday I had my final follow-up appointment at CHEO for a surgery I had a few years ago. I got a clean bill of health and I don't ever have to go back there as a patient!

And CHEO means Ottawa, so my Mom and I also got to go clothes shopping. Clothes shopping is always a point of extreme stress for me, every garment feels like compromise, but I actually found an awesome skirt, and a beautiful coat and shirt! They all look awesome on me and I am truly comfortable in them. Plus the coat has POCKETS! Actually pockets and tons of them!

The other bonus is that the shirt and coat are "Men's" clothing, so they fit with the fact that I am questioning my sense of gender identity, I can wear them and feel like a woman, I can waer them and feel like a man, or I can wear them and feel something else altogether! The coat doesn't feel like a woman's coat, or a man's, it feels like my coat, and it makes me happy and secure. (There is some stuff about my gender identity that I am feeling down about but the YAY section isn't really any place for it).

All in all, I am highly satisfied with the day I had yesterday!

I am ME and that is the only label I need.

Yay, indeed! I personally LOVE clothes like that, I know exactly what you mean.

And always a yay for many pockets. [Big Grin]

(On a side note, when I was a kid, there was a street fair we went to, and some woman had this giant skirt on made of nothing but pockets. Each one was full of various kinds of toys and prizes, and so kids got to go and pick one. That was cool, but really, I wanted that skirt!)

Congratulations, Moonlight! That's wonderful that you were able to find some cute-fitting clothing!

P.S. I love to shop in the guy's section sometimes. [Wink]

That is great! It's so awesome to find clothes that just feel good to you.

I'm very much a girl, but when I was younger (about 15/16) I was not very pleased with my body. There was all this extra flesh on my chest that was just so uncomfortable and all the shirts in the girls department emphasized that. So I can tell when certain shirts are from because for a while when growing up, I would specifically tell my dad, when I needed new shirts, to get me something baggy and shapeless...just go to the boy's shirts. On the bright side, I've got two Harry Potter shirts from that phase. (I'm quite happy to wear clothing that flatters my figure now, but I still wear my comfy clothes from the boy's department when I just want to relax. Or if I'm going to be walking around late at night or taking a public bus and would rather not look hugely feminine)

I knit and sew, I might try to make a skirt like that. It sounds awesome!
