hiya, I had a question, Im from the UK so for teens its free to get birth control, and one of my close friends uses the pill to regulate her periods she doesnt take it all the time but the way she does was prescribed by her doctor. I have irregular periods and was wondering if using the pill this way was safe or even okay to do?

I'm not interested in preventing pregnancy btw ^^

Using the pill for contraception doesn't make it somehow safer. In other words, someone taking the pill is someone taking the pill. Why doesn't change its safety.

However, for the pill to actually work well -- including to make withdrawal bleeds occur more consistently (the pill can't actually "regulate" menstrual periods, since someone using the pill isn't having normal menstrual cycles anymore), it needs to be taken properly. Taking the pill some days and not others won't make it any less safe, but it's less likely to work well -- certainly for contraception, but also when used for other issues -- and the person taking it may have more side effects.
