My honey and I just got through having sex recently and noticed that the skin right below the head of his penis looked raw and the skin was looked like it was broken. It was also red. Could this have happened because the sex may have been either too rough or the vagina too dry? If it remains like this for more than a day or two then we are going to the doctor. But I just wanted to know if the possibilites that I've listed are feasible.

Oh I should add that no we did not use protection, however, we are married (newlyweds) and are very monogamous. So we are sure that it is not an STD.

Friction is a definate possibility. Did you use extra lubricant at all? If not, that's the most likely cause.

While being monogamous will certainly cut back on the risk of contracting an STD, it won't eliminate it. So it's still a good idea to get you and your partner checked out for safety purposes.

No we did not use extra lube. I thought that may have been that.

He's in the service and they test for STDs every so often. I got checked at the beginning of our relationship, but I do have a doctor's appt to get check out again and to get birth control, so that we can plan for a child instead of having a surprise.

Thank you for the help. I hope he heals quickly.

My understanding is that in the military, they don't usually do full STI screenings, so if he wants one, he'll have to ask for one or seek one outside of military health care, just for the record.

He might also want to get checked for a yeast infection/jock itch. That can cause redness.
