I i am wondering how do u know that the brand of birth control (the pill) is effective with you? Is it possible since everyone has different reactions with the pill that certain brands can be ineffective on then? if so how would i know? Posts: 31 | From: Canada | Registered: Oct 2002

Yep, it's possible that one formulation or another won't work with your body. Generally speaking, you'll experience other side effects with it that will indicate to you that it may not be the best one for you. If you're continually experiencing spotting throughout your cycle (after your first cycle...often you may spot through your first cycle of pills while your body adjusts, that's quite normal), or you're noticing extreme mood changes, or other side effects that are listed in the information that comes with your pill (or any other symptoms that may not be normal for you), then it may not be working. Additionally, if your pill doesn't regulate your period (ie. your cycles are still varying in length after a couple of months), then you may want to consult your physician about whether or not you should try another formulation.
If you have any concerns that your pill may not be protecting you or that it may simply not be right for your body, then you should call your doctor and describe the symptoms/side effects you're experiencing and ask them about it.
