A similar program exists in California that provides free family planning and reproductive health services, if I may add it.

To qualify for FamilyPACT program:

  • Have no insurance at all

  • have insurance, but it doesn't cover family planning

  • have insurance, but have not met the deductible

  • have insurance, but desire to keep services confidential.

  • Have income at or below 200% the Federal Poverty Level.

  • Be a California resident.

You do not qualify if you are pregnant, sterilized, menopausal, or over 55. Enrollment is on-site at your local clinic.

Services provided:

  • All temporary and permanent contraceptive methods: birth controls pills, condoms, Depo-Provera, contraceptive implants, IUD, emergency contraception, vaginal ring, diaphragm, cervical cap, spermicides, fertility awareness methods, lactational amenorrea method, male and female sterilization, the patch.

  • Pregnancy testing and counseling

  • STI testing and treatment

  • Education and counseling

  • Periodic physical exam

  • Preconception counselling

  • Cervical cancer screening

  • Limited infertility services

The official site is http://www.dhs.ca.gov/pcfh/ofp/Programs/FamPACT/default.htm

(Not trying to one-up you, ookuotoe! Just thought it would be a good place to post additional info for anyone looking for it. Nice work!)

One extra note, since I just found this today:

Nearly ALL women's clinics in Washington State offer not only free birth control, of every type, to those who are uninsured, but basic pelvic exams AND STI screens and treatment via the Take Charge program referenced at the bottom of that Planned Parenthood page: http://fortress.wa.gov/dshs/maa/familyplan/TCclientservices.htm

And the application is on a honor-system, so you do NOT need to worry about having tax records or any of that stuff.

Good to know if there isn't a PP near you, or you prefer to use an independent clinic (and there are a whole heaping lot of them in WA).

I'd also like to add that they have a free family planning program available in Minnesota.

(How odd that they don't seem to offer any barrier methods of birth control, only hormonal methods and sterilization. Am I missing something on that page?)
