Watching the news yesterday, I stumbled across an alarming piece of information: South Africa has now stopped funding for the AIDS Vaccine research. South africa has just recently reached the clinical trial stage in the research process, but this means that there is still years of testing ahead that need funding for.

The trials actually began in the US, and the article says: Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease and a leading AIDS researcher, said the South African scientists received more money from his institute's research fund than any others in the world except the U.S. The U.S. had paid to produce the vaccine.

At such an important time in the research and trial process, funding being cut could mean the trials never being finished on the vaccine.
