hi i recently asked about the freshman/sophomore etc distinction because i’m planning to come to the u.s in summer to take some courses in a university/college summer school. i am looking for a university with a nice campus and in or near an interesting city. i was planning to go to b.u but I have heard it’s campus is very urban and i`m looking for a nice atmosphere. If any of you can give me any input or recommendations on this I would appreciate it. the price of the school is not necessarily very important since i will only be staying for about a month or so (summer session only). i don’t know much about universities or colleges in the u.s so I could greatly use any recommendation on the subject. thanks

hey. i'm from boston and i think that BU is a really nice place. i don't know exactly what you mean when you say "nice atmosphere," but i will say that BU is in a really nice part of town, really close to downtown Boston. It is also close to Fenway Park, where the baseball team plays, which is nice because baseball is huge in Boston and you'll get a taste of some unique atmosphere. Boston is a big student city so there will be a lot of young people around, which you might like.

thanks for the reply.. when i talk about a nice atmosphere i mean a nice campus. The thing is that i’ve been told that b.u’s campus is not very nice and i’ve read some comments on the web which say that b.u’s campus is absolutely horrible, so i’m a bit unsure as if i want to got there or rather to another campus which is more college-like as opposed to being very urban-based thanks again Posts: 55 | From: South America | Registered: Jan 2005

What about Penn State? (you can say I'm biased because I go here, haha) Penn State is not in a big city by any means, but it is interesting, and the campus is absolutely beautiful, in my opinion anyway. Depending on what you're looking for in "interesting", there is historic Bellefonte just a few minutes from campus, and it is absolutely beautiful. (think old victorian houses and such) www.psu.edu

The University of Missouri - http://www.missouri.edu - is a good school, and is halfway between St Louis and Kansas City, both major cities. Columbia is a great town (I chose to move back here twice after moving away to be with family), very clean, and absolutely gorgeous. There are community organizations for any kind of interest, and the people on campus are generally very nice.
What sort of courses are you looking for? I have more suggestions based on if you're looking for a school that's good for journalism, music, science, etcetera.

Indiana University!! Bloomington,Indiana is a very very nice city. Lots of great places to hang out and do some shopping. Was once the biggest party school in the nation, I think number 2 now. Also voted one of the nicest campuses, oh sooo beautiful. Indiana is also known for how nice everyone is here. Indianapolis is also only about 45min away, lots and lots to do there. IU is a great place for humanities courses. Please Please consider it.
