Okay now I've been hearing a lot about this lately and I have a question. Back in the day (like when I was 8 I think) I had what everyone called "an oral herpes breakout" Basically it was *lots* of little white bumps and sores inside of my mouth. I went to the doctor, got medicine, and everyone is fine and dandy.

So now I'm wondering if this could affect my making out/sex life in any way. I'm assuming that like having a cold sore or whatever it can be spread by kissing and I'd use a condom for oral sex anyway, but for all those "just in cases" if I ever have another breakout should I totally refrain from anything?

Brittany

PS: I think this question is okay since I'm not asking for diagnosis or anything, but if I should just go ask my doctor at my next checkup then just let me know

Yes, you should. As you know, you have oral herpes, not genital herpes, but it is comminicable by contact BOTH orally and genitally when you have a sore, or when you are about to GET a sore.

So, the golden rule is: if you know you get cold sores, be on the lookout. if you have one, or can feel the little tingling or swelling that says you're about to get one, no smooches for you until it's healed.
