Can I ask a GI (Gastroentrologist) to draw blood for a pregnancy test? Or are they not allowed to do that because it's not their "speciality"? I don't want to ask and become embarrassed that I asked such a thing.
I figured any health care provider can draw blood if a patient requests it. Thank you.

Someone who is set up as a GI specialist probably won't have the equipment to run a blood test for pregnancy. You're right, most doctors will run blood tests if they're requested (or draw blood if it's requested), but they are limited in what tests they can do with that blood based on what you're there for.
