On June 30, three days after my period while I was still spotting brownish blood, I went down on my boyfriend and got some precum in my mouth. After this, I kissed my boyfriend, and then he went performed oral sex on me. This lasted for a minute at most, and then we stopped all sexual activity. After this event, I was incredibly anxious that I was pregnant, even though it seems impossible. I have a fairly regular cycle, normally about 32 days, and I started my next period on July 28th. I had two days of normal bleeding, and then three days of very light bleeding. My standard periods are normal for the first three days, and then get lighter on the fourth and fifth day. Because my period was abnormal, I became anxious once again that my bleeding was actually decidual bleeding rather than a period. I have not had any nausea or tender breasts, but I have had some abdominal pain after my July 28th period. Is it common to be this anxious about pregnancy? Can an abnormal period and abdominal pain be caused by stress? Is there any chance that I could be pregnant? Thank you so much, I just don't feel like my worrying is normal.

Welcome to Scarleteen, orchidgirl.

In terms of assessing your pregnancy, can you take a look at this thread first, please?

Having cycles get wonky because of how we manage (or don't) stress absolutely can happen, and often does. People under lots of stress or anxiety do also sometimes feel like their stomach is in knots. But reproductive system pain or severe pain is something we'd suggest you check in with a healthcare provider about, as that is not likely to be about stress alone.

In terms of feeling anxiety about pregnancy, I don't know how we'd say what's normal or not. But what we do know is that a lot of people feel very scared about it, and if and when those folks are engaging in sexual activities they're really not ready for -- including being ready to handle that pregnancy can be a risk -- or in other situations that makes the sexual activity they're choosing a not-so-great choice for them, those fears tend to be a lot more pervasive. Too, if and when people aren't well-educated about how pregnancy actually happens, they will obviously often be more fearful.

We can certainly talk about this more, if you like.

I don't know why I got so anxious, and it didn't help that I went online and looked up tons of information and found every story under the sun about pregnancy. This website was the first that I could really find that sort of eased my anxiety, especially after reading the thread that you posted. It is impossible for me to be pregnant, and I should have known that.

I honestly have no problem with sexual activities. I find them enjoyable and I think I am ready to be involved with my boyfriend in this way, so I was really caught off guard by my anxiety. I have never been that anxious before, and it lasted practically every waking moment for the whole month until my period started.

Thank you so much for your information, though. I feel so much better knowing that stress can mess up my cycle in other ways than making my period late. I feel better just getting some of my anxiety off my chest!

I also wanted to say that today I took a home pregnancy test just to ease some anxiety. The result was negative, and I feel much better. Thanks again!
