I stopped taking the pill last month; I took it for 8 months. I was very surprised when my period came last month. As I know that periods tend to be irregular when you go off the pill, I didn't expect my period to come so soon-It only lasted 4 days, which is 2 days less than usual. Anyway, it's almost the end of the month and I still haven't ovulated this month. Because I was concerned, I took pregnancy tests to ease my mind which were negative. I am just confused as to why I had a period/ovulation a few weeks after stopping the pill and no sign of ovulation this month. Should I be concerned? Thanks

HI GrayCloud1,
Going off the Pill can definitely throw your cycles off for a few months, and even though you got your period initially, your hormones are likely still settling into the pattern that is regular for you.
Nothing you describe is concerning.

Hi Just a quick question: I always have heavy cervical mucus around the time that I ovulate, but this time I haven't seen any sign of it. I'm no experiencing cramping, signaling that I might be getting my period soon. Is it possible to not have cervical mucus and still have ovulated? I do recall having had very thin mucus. I'm just wondering if something is wrong....

Well, when ovulation happens, cervical fluid is actually very thin, not thick. So, if and when you have seen very thin mucus, that's likely when ovulation has been happening for you, not when it's been thick. But for sure, plenty of people ovulate and take no notices, even if they're being observant: sometimes the body signs of it are very subtle.
But like Robin said, it can take a little bit after getting off a hormonal method for cycles, including periods, to get back on schedule.

There really is a reason that there are whole, and usually pretty substantial, books about charting fertility, as well as long classes. It's often far more complex than it seems.
