Okay, research says that you only have a 30% chance of getting pregnant in any given cycle. But sometimes it seems like some people just can't miss and are pregnant every time they do it. I know the question I am about to ask is probably dumb because I know it is a risk.

I had know way to pick up my pills (portia generic name) I went 4 days without taking my pill (sun-wed) I took my pill 3 days (thurs-sat) and then had unprotected... I know that I have to be on it for a week to be active.. I have been on the pill 8years are the chances high for ovaulation in those 4 days that I did not take my pill. What are my chances of getting pregnant? Or is there just know way to know until the end of the pill pack...and see if i get my withdrawl bleed? Thank you so much!

You're right: it's really hard to make any predictions about your pregnancy risk. Missing more than one pill means that your protection is compromised. The more you miss, the lower your protection goes, and this is especially true at the beginning of the cycle. But we cannot give you any exact figures.

Given that you missed four pills, you'll have to expect that your withdrawal bleed may be late or missing, anyway. So I'd suggest that you take a pregnancy test at 10-14 days after the risk, just to know for sure.

And in the future, you'll want to back up with condoms. That's a good idea in general, but especially in situations like this where your protection from the pill has been compromised.
