I almost know the answer(s) I will receive to this, but for some reason, I have to ask so I can feel better.
I made the mistake of using a VERY old condom with a partner last night. It expires in March '08. Nothing broke or slipped. He didn't even ejaculate in it. AND, I started my period this morning.
So by all accounts, I have nothing to worry about and shouldn't even be concerned with emergency contraception in the slightest, right? For some reason I can't get that old condom out of my brain. Could small holes have developed in it after so long?
Just checking. Thanks for any answers... Posts: 71 | From: USA | Registered: Nov 2006

A condom failure is always going to be very visible - you'll notice if it slipped off or broke. An older condom might be more susceptible to that, but if nothing happened, you're still safe regardless.

By the by...if the condom expires in March 2008 (it's still December 2007 right now), it would not be expired yet (so it's not really that old). You only have to worry about a condom being old if it is beyond it's expiration date or if it has not been correctly stored.
