I got my first pap and the paper said that everything was normal, but I was just wondering if they check everything. Is there any chance that I could have any kind of std even though it said the results were normal?

If you didn't get a full STI screening? Yes, it's possible. Pap tests only screen for certain things - abnormal cells that could indicate HPV or cancer, specifically, and many PAP tests now will also include Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and even Herpes (my last Pap was the first one that included a Herpes test!), but the office you went to may not do all those screenings if it isn't requested.

So, for starters I'd call the office and ask specifically what they tested for, and find out what they did not test for that you may want to go get screened for specifically.

(Also, some STIs cannot be tested for through a swab test at all, so you definitely wouldn't have been screened for those at all; check out our article, too: Testing, Testing...)
