Which pregnancy test is the best one to buy?? How many should we buy?? How many times should we test before we get a reasonable response??

All brands are pretty much created equal - just be sure to get one that isn't past its expiry date, and you'll be fine.

Test with the first morning's urine, as that tends to be the most concentrated; if it's negative and your girlfriend still doesn't get her period, test again a week later. If you get two negative responses, it's safe to say she's not pregnant.
