I had a non-hormonal IUD inserted back in April. Before and at the time, I was told little to nothing about IUD's in general, greatly due to the fact that I have low income and was visiting a nightmare Planned Parenthood clinic. I did my own research on the net, and thanks to many websites including this one I learned a good amount about the IUD. I am aware that the Paraguard is likely to cause cramping and strange bleeding patterns, but the past couple of months have been very strange for me. My periods have never been exactly the same from month to month and I pretty much know what to expect at best and worse. But lately I've been having what seems like weeks of PMS, with a week of cramping, few days of bleeding, another week of being moody, etc. This week my muscles feel like jelly and I just dont want to get out of bed. On top of it all, I have acne sores.. something I have never come close to experiencing before. Is this to be expected?

Natasha, have you had any unprotected sex without using condoms? If so, this creates extra risks with the IUD.
I would say that no, it's possible, especially this late in the game, you're experiencing effects I wouldn't consider niormal and I would suggest you have checked out.

I'm aware that an IUD does not protect against STD's and have been in a monogamous relationship (as well as tested) since long before getting the IUD. Perhaps the symptoms are simply hormones changing in my body because of age, irrelevent to the IUD. I am just shy of 19, after all.
Assuming that is the problem, what would you suggest to help the pms, mood swings and acne, seeing as how I can't just go on the pill?

Have you talked with your doctor about switching out the Paragaurd IUD for the Mirena?
Per mood swings and acne, those are issues which may or may not be related, so I'd talk to your general physician about those issues.
