I was just wondering if there are any long term effects from taking Birth Control Pills for a long time [like more than a year]. Is it bad to take the pill continuously for such a long time?

There used to be elevated risks after taking oral contraceptives for several years, but with the low-dose pills currently prescribed, there really aren't any known dangers in taking them for a number of years anymore.
