Hepatitis C can be transmitted through contact with blood (sharing needles), needle stick injuries for health care workers, sexual contact or from mother to child at birth. In the past, it was also spread through transfusions with infected blood, but in the western world, blood supplies are tested vigourously these days.

Hepatitis can be diagnosed through a blood test at your docs. If you fear you might have it, get tested.

Remember that STD stands for "sexually transmissible disease"- i.e. a disease that can be transmitted sexually. That doesn't mean that it's always transmitted sexually, or that it stops being an STD if you contract it by a non-sexual route.

And yes, hepatitis C can be transmitted non-sexually.
