Can some diseases be transmitted other ways, besides sexually? I ask because both my boyfriend and I are virgins, and haven't had any sexual encounters with other people our age. But I'm worried that ff we were to have oral sex, I might get something. Is there a chance he could unknowingly have something and give it to me...?

Yep, there certainly is. Some diseases can be passed from mother to child, picked up from sharing a towel, or even transmitted by a kiss from your grandma or other relative. That's why it's so important to take all safer sex precautions for all sexual activities...whether you've been with nobody, one person, or a hundred people. For oral sex, we recommend condoms and dental dams. Another good step to take is for both you and your partner to be tested for STDs every 6 months. Remember that being tested doesn't 100% mean you're clean and should dispense with the safer sex precautions...some diseases can take a while to show up, and other things like yeast infections can develop on their own and then be passed from one partner to the other, or you could pick something up another way.
