it could be a number of things. but for a definite diagnosis, ask your doctor to do a throat culture (which involves using a long cotton swab to swipe off a little mucus and cells from the back of your throat) to identify the pathogen.
but till you go to the doctor, may i recommend warm broth and orange juice to soothe your throat.
