Hello all! I was on Loestrin 24 from May-August and stopped because I got severely anxious/depressed as a result of being on the pill. Since then, my boyfriend and I have been using condoms exclusively with only one mishap (the condom broke halfway through). I'm considering trying to go back on the pill, but I'm actually slightly afraid about it due to my past experience on it. Anyone have any advice or ideas about other methods?

This article gives a good overview over what your options are, and the pros and cons of each: Birth Control Bingo!
We'd be happy to talk about any of them in more depth with you!

Another thing to note would be the fact that all pills affect each individual differently. I personally had to switch pill brands a few times before finding something that worked for me personally. Though as September pointed out there are other methods available, including several completely non-hormonal methods that you can use.

hello! I'd really like something that would have a low failure rate. I have no problem taking a pill, but I am generally terrified of going on another birth control pill. Any recommendations of what to do?

You certainly have more options that oral contraceptives if, for any reason, you don't want to use them.
It'd help to have a better sense, though, of the side effects you had on the pill and if you ONLY had them on the pill or just one brand of pill. Did you have any history of anxiety or depression before using the OCs? And did you try only one brand, or have you tried more than one?

I was on Loestrin 24. it's the only one i've been on, but I was constantly crying, as if I had really bad pms, I couldn't control my thoughts, and I couldn't stop shaking. I also didn't want to be around my friends and family. This began to get severe in the beginning of my third cycle but had slowly been increasing since I began it. I also had hair-thinning and increase in facial hair.
My gynecologist said she didn't know what to tell me since Loestrin didn't work on me, and told me to stop taking the pill. I'm not sure what other brands to try.
