hello! my boyfriend of a year & a half & i have been trying to have sex for the past 6 months but everytime we try to insert the penis it is extremely painful for me. at first we tried to arouse me more & then take it slow & it never works. it's very frustrating. about 2 months ago i got an exam at the gynocologist & she checked down there & she said everything was fine but the pressure might have been hurting me but it happens to people the first time a lot. but we keep trying & nothing is working it makes me very upset. is it possible i have vaginismus? i can insert tampons, get a full exam at the OBGYN so why can i not have enjoyable sex? i have felt myself down there before & i feel it's too tiny to fit but maybe that's impossible.

Why don't you start by reading through that and seeing if any of that applies to you, and then we can talk further and see how we can help you in your situation.

Also, if your gynecologist successfully gave you an internal exam, it's likely you do not have vaginismus. With vaginismus, all penetration is difficult to impossible.

I have also been experiencing the same difficulty. Although I have been to the GP and had a vaginal swab, even that made me squirm and the GP reported that it should not be so tender around the entrance. It was found that I had thrush but even after taking the medication i'm still experiencing pain.
I haven't had an internal exam though and this is because of being a virgin. The GP was even reluctant to do anymore because of this fact. I don't use tampons and have never inserted anything into myself so I can't be sure what it is....Should I be asking for a referral to the Gynecologist?
