I'm only just the pill in few days when my period starts. I'm a little confused by the effect it has on your period though, so i'd like as much information as possible.

Main query: when my period comes and I take the pill on the first day, does that mean I won't have my period for the rest of the week?

Also second question: if a virgin and a virgin have sex is there any chance of getting STIs?

How the pill works: http://www.scarleteen.com/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=21;t=000351

And as per your second question, yes! there are a lot of STI's that you can be born with (because a parent had them) or that you can get thru non sexual contact (like oral herpes, which you can get from something as easy as kissing a relative who's carrying it). Best bet? Go get tested. You and your potential partner both. Use safer sex practices for the first 6 months that you're monogomous and then get a second set of tests done. If those come back clear you're good to go (though we still strongly, strongly encourage using safer sex and condoms!!)
