You'll need to schedual an appointment either with a gynecologist or with a Public Health type clinic such as Planned Parenthood or Family Planning. When schedualing the appointment, tell them you'd like to look at getting on the pill.

During the appointment, you'll go over any medical risks you may have associated with taking hormonal birth control. You'll probably also go over all the hormonal methods that may be available to you and the pros and cons of each one.

Most times you'll give them a urine sample, they do this to verify you aren't pregnant. I had it done before I was even sexually active and going on the pill for other reasons, so it's standard procedure as far as I know.

You also should have a pelvic exam at that time, or they'll schedual you a time to come back in for one.

And that's about that. If I remember anything else or you have any more questions, I'll hop back in and try to fill more in.

If you go through a clinic such as Planned Parenthood, they charge on a sliding scale basis, which means if you're a minor and uninsured (because you want this confidential from your parents) you'll be paying a lower rate than someone with a steady income.

To know the exact prices, you'll need to contact the clinic and ask directly, but you can see the reply I made to another poster with a similar question about what I speculated prices might be:
