ARGHHH, i sound like a super-freak, but here goes:

i know its OK that women has vaginal discharge.. but sometimes, mine comes out in a very different texture. When it does come it, it usually feels the way it does when my period starts; you KNOW and can FEEL that something has come out of there!!

When i check, its not my period, but discharge. Its not like a little bit comes out, but a fair amount..

it literally LOOKS and FEELS like jello-type raw egg white; clear/sometimes a little yellowish, slightly firm so that it can be picked up, but extremely slimy/slippery & soft enough for it to just slip off my fingers (YES i touched it). I dont get this all the time.. this usually happens frequently AFTER my period ends, & lasts for about a week..

Does anyone else get this "type" of discharge?? someone PLEASE help me so i dont feel like such a freak & not being paranoid!!

PS: sorry the description was kinda yukky & grahpic....!!

Hey, don't worry so much, it's absolutely normal and healthy for a woman's discharge to vary at different points in her cycle. In fact, some women even chart this to try to keep in touch with how their bodies work. Discahrge can be egg-white slippery, stringy stuff like what you described, to pasty, milky white, and all sorts of degrees inbetween, and that's all fine. If your discharge changes scent or colour very noticeable, accompanies an itchy or painful vulva, or even just seeme wrong, by all means, do see a doctor, as these can indicate infection.

Actually, I bet you'll find this reassuring:

"Egg whites" is the actual, technical description of one of the phases of discharge your body goes through in a healthy menstrual cycle.

quote:
For the first few days, secretions may be whitish and sticky (maybe even pasty, or perhaps nonexistent!). Your vagina may feel pretty dry. Then there'll be a few days of increasingly creamy whitish secretions, followed by mucous that looks and feels a lot like egg whites.

That's from thebody.com - which is a site for people with HIV, but please don't be alarmed - it is NOT a sign of HIV. I just picked it because I thought it was a good description of how egg whites are a part of a normal cycle, which is what they were descibing

Hope this helps,

God, I'm glad it's normal, but it sure is annoying! I mean, it's like having an extra long period, for me anyway.

Since you have had unprotected sex you have a very good chance have having an STD, so you should definetly get it checked out just to be on the safe side.

Just to be clear: light green or yellow discharge is NOT a normal variation. It is, in fact, very likely you are currently carrying a sexually transmitted infection.

Daily discharge is normal, yes. It does have a distinct smell, but it shouldn't be offensive.

A girl should get used to having daily discharge, because it's normal and healthy to have

Seriously ... There's no getting rid of it; you may as well learn to like it. Some women choose to wear pantyliners so they don't have to feel it on their underwear, but for many it's really not an issue.
