I'm working on a piece for In Your Own Words and I was wondering if a volunteer/staff person could give me some feedback before I officially submit it.

It's mostly finished but I'd like someone to tell me about its readability, areas I could expand on, etc.

It's about my experience/difficulties with my gay identity and pride so I'd prefer a queer reader. (Heather, joey, bigoddess? I'm not sure who else is out there.)

Any takers?

Thanks.

When you do one of those pieces, it never goes live.

In other words, it goes into a queue which -- since I'm pretty much the only one who does the editing -- I review, then look at pieces. When I pick a piece to make live, I always edit it as need be first. If, when I see those, I feel like one has merit, but needs a lot more work than I can (or should) do as an editor, then I will contact the user who submitted it about that.

I'm looking more for feedback/criticism than editing. I'm a little bit stuck with the piece and would like a fresh perspective.

I don't have an appropriate writing buddy for that right now, and I respect the Scarleteen people, so I thought one of you might be willing/have the time to read it before it went into the queue. It's not at the stage yet where I'm ready to submit it to be edited.

Well, Joey expressed an interest in reading it, so since you have my email, you're welcome to send it to me and I'd be happy to also forward it on to her.
