I am 23 years old and have just now decided to have a child. My husband and I had sex almost everyday for the past month and i was quite surprised to get my period. Is it possible that too much sex can cause too low of sperm count? Or should I not worry and just keep on trying? I was also smoking at the time (have since quit) and was pretty stressed so maybe this got in the way? It just worries me to hear of all these accidents and for being young and healthy not being able to conceive after having unprotected sex every day. Thanks for the help!

One month of trying to conceive -- especially randomly trying -- is actually a very small amount of time, especially considering that in that month, there are only a handful of days you are most likely to become pregnant. So, a lot of those days may have offered little to no chance of pregnancy.

When couples ARE charting fertility, and having sex during most fertile times, it's generally considered that a six-month time period -- sometimes longer -- is a sound one to expect conception in, barring any problems.

Since you're trying to conceive, why not start with a visit to your OB/GYN, who can give you some help with charting your fertility, and check out some books on the subject?
