ok, so ive been on the pill for about 2 months. me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex yesterday and i got my period today. does that mean im not pregnant? cause sperm can live in you for like 7 days cant it? Does having your period kill the sperm or something??? I dont know. Me and my boyfriend agreed that we got lucky and now we have a clean slate and from now on we're doing everything with a condom even though im on birth control. Im just wondering if im getting my hopes up for nothing. please help!

If you've been taking the pill consistently and correctly for 2 months, your risk of pregnancy is minimal.

Periods don't kill sperm, but the pill works by preventing you from ovulating.

So it doesn't matter how long the sperm hang around - there won't be an egg there for them to meet up with.

However, unprotected sex does give you a potential STI risk. And condom use gives you extra contraceptive protection, so it's a smart move anyway.

Nope. So long as you're taking all your active pills correctly, you're just as protected during the placebo period.
