The last time i could've gotten pregnant was February 14th. I was taking the placebo birth control pills at the time and I had my period 2 days later. Is it at all possible to get pregnant during the placebo pills? Also i'm skipping my period this month and starting the next pack of pills right away, my doctor said it was ok to do this but not often. I've heard mixed views on whether or not skipping a period is ok. Is it fine?

If you're taking the pill consistently and correctly (i.e. no skipping pills, no late pills, etc.) then you're just as protected against pregnancy when you're taking the placebo pills as when you're taking the active pills.

The pill doesn't provide 100% protection at any time, though. Even with perfect use, there's a very small risk that it might fail.

I've heard mixed views on whether or not skipping a period is ok.

Many people are concerned that regularly using the pill to skip periods could have dangerous long-term effects - you're putting extra hormones into your body and preventing your body from shedding the uterine lining as it normally does. There hasn't been any research on the long-term safety of doing this.

When it comes to occasionally skipping a period, we'd advise that you check in with your doctor and make sure it's okay with them first.
