My mom and I are very close and one day we happened to talk about "what if's" in our lives. I decided to ask her "what if I were to get pregnant?" (Something that definitly will NOT happen anytime soon of course). But the first thing she said was "abortion!" Now, I'm all for a woman's free choice, but it hurts me that my mom wouldn't let me make my own decision about my own child. I am only 14, but I believe if I was mature enough to have sex, then I should be mature enough to make my own decision with my child. Even days after my mom and I had this conversation I'm still thinking about it and still a little hurt because of her reaction. Am I right here? Or is it just an opinion... Thanks for all responses! Btw: I'm not pregnant, so don't worry! =)

remember, there's a difference between spontaneously talking about hypothetical situations and actually experiencing them. she probably just gave her first thought about what she thought would be best. this doesn't mean that she would demand this come the happening.
have you talked to her about it since? you could explain just what you told us here. maybe she would agree with you.
good luck.

And remember, generally (in most countries) it is illegal for your parents to force you into having an abortion.
On the other side of things, it looks like its only a difference of opinion, and how you feel about pregnancy and abortion is what matters. At the end of the day, it is always going to be your choice, and yours only.
Don't try to change your mothers mind by arguing with her, it probably won't do any good. She is only trying to protect you by saying that, as it is how she feels.

I agree with mistress monkey here. It was the first solution that came to your mother. It sounds like you're close to your mother, so I would just talk to her about it.

Wow...my mother and I actually had that conversation when I was about 14 years old. Actually we discussed it a lot. She said the same thing your mom did. When I turned up preg. at 17 (gave birth at 18) I intended to have an abortion but I got attached so fast and I changed my mind. Although my mother had preached that as long as I could remember, she did not say ONE WORD against me when I changed my mind but was SO supportive...I would not have made it without her!!!
