I slept with my mouth open one night and the corner of my mouth became dry and cracked and bled the next day, I dont think it is a cold sore because i haven't been in contact with anyone who has the herpes simplex that causes cold sores. should i get tests for herpes?

It sounds like you're pretty easily identifying what happened with your mouth. I'm not sure why you'd think this was about herpes?

Well, do member of your family have oral herpes, and are saying your mouth looks like what they're used to?
Most people contract oral herpes in childhood, not through sexual contact in later life. So, if there's herpes in your family, and a family member is saying it looks like an outbreak, then indeed, it may be a good idea to have a doctor take a look so you know for sure.
