I've been getting these pretty crazy dry skin spots lately, mostly around my shoulders and collarbones.. like, noticeable red spots that feel like sandpaper. At first, I just ignored them, but they're getting worse, and I'm getting more on my back and such. Could it be just something simple like I'm not getting enough oils and/or not drinking enough water? I have fairly dry skin, but nothing like this.

I have a lot more dry skin right now, too - I'm in an area pretty close to Canada. So, I'm assuming we're both suffering from the same thing - plain old dry skin, aggravated by winter weather Mine tends to get better when I use moisturizer, but comes back as soon as I shower. Just make sure you're keeping your skin moisturized and drinking plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. If it gets painful, you could talk to your parents about maybe getting a humidifier (but of course you want to be careful about your house rotting from the moisture)
