I know you aren't doctors, but i have a slight concern. I was born with a hole in my heart and had an operation to fix it when i was about 3 weeks old. Every 3 or 4 years i have a check up (i'm 14 now). I was just wondering if i have a higher chance of getting cancer when i'm older. My gran also had cancer and died last year because of it. I haven't asked a doctor yet, because i only thought about this this morning, any kind of help would be greatly apperciated or just notes about this thanks xxx

Your risk of cancer is not related to your congenital heart defect.
HOWEVER, risks of cancer tend to be very strongly correlated to family history of cancer. That means if a direct blood relative had cancer, you stand a greater chance of getting it too. What kind of cancer did your grandmother have?
