Ive posted on here a couple of times a problem ive been having for the past 6 months. This problem was the fact that have very little if any bowel moments. Ive done absolutely everything to solve this problem. As a last resort I went to my doctors and she put me on a hardcore diet along with laxatives and fiber pills. These of course did help but they only helped because I was taking them. They did nothing with the problem I had which was I couldn't make myself do it without all these other medicines. I have noticed .. or i think i have noticed that my body clears out most of its waste during my period. Is this a coinscidence? Or does my period have a factor in how my colon reacts. The last theory I have would be my birthcontrol pills. I of course dont take my hormone pills on my last week which is my period. Could my birthcontrol pills effect the way my colon works? Id like to know if anyone has any ideas.Ive already searched the internet for this specific side effect. But i got nothing. If neither of my theories could possibly be true then theres nothing I can do but keep eating right and then wait 2 more years just so I can get a pill that may or may not help me at all. please try to help.

Well, I'd stay that dropping the laxatives but sticking with fiber therapy and a proper diet is a smart move, and not as a stopgap, but as a permanent change.
Given most Americans really don't eat a lot of natural fiber in their diet, it's unsurprising a lot will need fiber supplements. Of course, you could also simply change your diet to eat a lot more whole grains. As may be obvious, it's sage for anyone to eat right. Do you get enough exercise as well?
BCPs and other hormonal methods can, indeed, make constipation worse for some women. Like most BCP side effects, it's pretty individual. It's also normal to have looser bowels during menstruation.
