It's a myth. Wearing bras doesn't have an effect on breast elasticity, development, or sagging, despite what some myths may say.

i don't know about the breast cancer thing, but all i know is that it's really UNCOMFORTABLE to wear a bra to sleep. personally, i like to be as comfortable as possible when i go to bed, which means no restrictive clothes. plus, if you have ever fallen asleep wearing a bra, you might have experienced lines and indentions and red marks where the bra was on your skin and that isn't too nice.

The theory is that wearing a bra all the time (as in, 24 hours a day) prevents the body from properly draining the breasts' lymph nodes, where cancer often occurs. As far as I know, this is only a theory, but I agree with gloworm: wearing a bra to sleep is uncomfortable, so it's probably best to take it off at night anyway!

I sure hope you can't get breast cancer from that... because I never take my bras off!! Of course I change bras... every morning... lol. But I wear them to bed every night. I dunno... I just feel weird without one. Without a bra my boobs are just hangin' there all loose and stuff. I just don't like that feeling. Ha I wouldn't be surprised if wearing a bra interfered with the development of breasts... that would explain why I have no boobs! Nah just kiddin... that's just a myth. Maybe I'll not wear a bra tonight and overcome my fear! Hmm......

first off, cancers seldom start in the lymph system. secondly, bras don't cause lymph to pool. and bras definitely don't stunt your growth.
so if you really like it, you can wear bras to bed. but i'm with the others -- i find it uncomfy and usually by the end of the day i can't wait to get out of mine (and into a sports bra).

Ya know, my grandma used to wear her bra, panty girdle, panty hose, and slip to bed every night so that if the house caugh fire, she could get dressed quickly and no one would see her without "proper undergarments".

And I take my bra off as soon as I get home. However, I'd imagine that if your bra's comfortable enough to wear you to bed it's doing you no damage. Mine mostly end up poking me in the armpits and leaving red marks. and various other nasties, so I figure I'm better off without.

I have to wear my bra to bed. I can't sleep without one! So I guess I sure am lucky that something I can't sleep without isn't dangerous.
Besides, for some working gals, they wear their bras some 14, 16 hours of the day and if bras really did cause cancer or some life terminating illness, I don't think so many people/places would advocate wearing a bra reguardless of the time of day.
