...but about the day before yesterday began one of the scariest things that happened to me physically.

For a few days before, I'd been sick, and even thrown up at one stage. On Sunday, everything was normal - I was in the middle of watching TV, when I suddenly noticed I couldn't focus. I soon found myself shouting at my brother for no apparent reason and decided to lie down to have a rest - only I couldn't close my eyes. They kept rolling upwards and my neck was arching back as it was doing so. This 'spasm' lasted for two hours - we went to the local GP, who gave me a relaxant, causing the 'spasm' to end and me to finally go to sleep. He had said I was able to go to school the next day, since I had an exam.

However, two questions and five minutes into the exams, I noticed I couldn't grip my pen properly. I asked to speak to the teacher outside whereby I explained I'd had a muscle spasm the day before, and just couldn't do the exam. I was in tears, and thankfully, my Dad was in the school at the time, so he drove me to a specialist clinic for a check up. It was just before I got into the van that the second spasm started.

I had my blood pressure and reflexes checked, and a blood test carried out too, all the while in the midst of this spasm. My head had virtually almost completely twisted around and there was absolutely nothing that could be done to control it. The spasm abruptly ended after about an hour and a half, whereby a specialist doctor came in and, upon noting the symptoms of what I was having, asked if I'd been taking any anti-vomiting pills.

Well, there it is. The answer to my sudden spasm, and the fact that I am slowly recovering. I'm told my experience is rare (about one in a million) but I was wondering if there was anyone else out there who had similar allergies to medicines and if they had any similar experience. I'm also looking for information on cerebral palsy from anyone who has had an experience with it first hand.

I only went through about four hours of pain - those people have to spend their whole lives like it.

thanks for the nelightening post.

i don't know pharmaceutical products are advertised in most other countries, but in the state, the adverts are regquired ot include al isting of all known side-effects. this has been kind of intimidating for some people i know. ignorance is bliss for some folks, ehh? but the point is to let people know what can possibly accompany use of the medication. side-effects tend to not be common, esp. the serious ones. but there are always a minute few who do react badly to any medication, and warnings are there to represent those folks.

Jeez, thats terrible. Did it hurt really badly? Because I have bad feet and tend to get foot cramps a lot, I know that hurts like nothing else, I'm just wondering if it felt like that. *shudders* I don't really know much about cerebral palsy. Its horrible to see someone going through it, though, I'm awed by people who live with those kind of disabilities and still lead productive lives, they have to be about 10,000 times more brave and resourceful than me.

When I was four years old, the doctors found out that I was allergic to a popular antibiotic the hard way. I finished the entire 10-day course with no side effects. The morning after the last dose, my mom walked in to find my face swollen to the point that only the tip of my nose was visible. She took me to my doctor, where I promplty loss all signs of life. I was clinically dead, allbeit for 20 seconds or so. That took a long time for healing. I pulled out a lot of my hair, and scratched my self so bad I scarred. No spasms, but it was scary none the less.

Whoa, that sounds like something out of the Exorcist!!! Nothing like that has ever happened to me before, and I'm glad. That would absolutely freak me out and I would be scared of myself! I'm sorry you had to go through all of that! :P
