Probably not. Periods don't always act or look the same each cycle-- sometimes they will be heavier, sometimes lighter; and not always on the same days or exactly when we expect them.
Needless to say, they usually don't compensate for their wonky days, either.

The duration of your period isn't set in stone. The 5-7 days is a handy average but many people have shorter or longer ones and even a single individual can experience differences from time to time. I've had a period that was just one day's spotting and another than went on heavily for two weeks straight.
I have heard of people occasionally having a break in flow but usually just a long stretch of hours, not days. My guess would be you just had a short one this time around.
