Since that may be an infection, this late in the game I'd advise seeing your doctor. if you do, he or she can prescribe antibiotics to clear it up.

But if that isn't it and it's still red or swollen, you may need to let the piercing close up and try again another time in a different spot on your nose, with a needle, which is the only proper way to pierce cartiledge.

You should also get a Hepatitis screen while you're at the doc if you've never had one, or haven't had one since the percing, as guns are not sterile like unused needles, and Hepatitis can be passed that way.

Ouch!! Getting nose pierced with a gun! bad bad idea, guns aren't very sanitary to pierce with because they you can't really clean them properly, and your piercing has obviously gotten infected.

What I suggest is to see a doctor or piercer, or take the piercing out if it REALLY really bothers you and is painful.

Until you get it looked at I suggest you buy some bactine, thats what I was told to put on my nose piercing when I first got it and it never got infected so that might help.

Good Luck!

Celery, you must be psychic, since there is no way you can know if this user's piercing is indeed infected.

Miz Scarlet has given fantastic advice above, and there's really nothing to add to that.

In addition, taking a piercing out if there is an infection can cause the skin to heal up with the infection inside, making an abcess. Bad idea.

i was going to go to the docters but i didnt i went to a piercing place and they said that nose piercings can take a long time to heal up to a year and that it isnt that red so it doesnt look like an infection so i should just keep it clean and it should heal properly does this sound like good advise or should i still go to the doctor?

If a piercing is infected it will have green or rust colored ooz. That is the only tell tale sign for an infected piercing. White or yellow is normal and nearly all piercing will have it, it is not a sign of infection but of a healing or healed piercing. Redness, soreness and swelling are signs of an irritated piercing, but do not determine an infection.

Piercings can act up every once and a while for no good reason as well. As long as it isnt prolonged and horribly painful then taking it out isnt necessary.

For anyone interested, here is a link to proper aftercare guidlines by the association of professional piercers.

btw, bactine is oily and can trap dust and dirt inside your piercing. Alcohol, neosporin, and peroxide are also piercing no no's

A friend of mine had his nose pierced with a gun almost a year ago and it still is red and he nearly DIES if he accidently brushes something against it from the pain. I got mine done with a needle and it was totally healed in 2 weeks, never had a problem since. I know how much taking a piercing out can suck. I mean, they don't exactly tickle and it's sort of like your badge

Honestly though, I would take it out and have it re-pierced with a needle. Guns are nothing but trouble.

Well, the redness will probably go away eventually, but remember that your nose has been traumatized and it may take a while for it to recover.

Never ever take a piercing out if you think it's infected. If you do, the piercing will heal over with the infection trapped inside the body. Absesses would not be fun.

well, i had my nose pierced with a gun and never had a problem with it. i dont think it's what you got it pierced with, but if it was sanitary, along with how well you took care of your piercing.

it's been said several times on different threads that white or yellow ooze from a piercing is fine, that's onlypartially true. This is important, both my parents are doctors and have made it very clar that intracellular fluid will ooze from woounds and that is clear or yellow tinged but still transparent. Opaque white or yellow fluid in a wound (piercings included, I have several) is an early sign of infection before it turns green, red, brown, whatever. Anyone care to remember that pus is yellow? Or that yellow phlegm is a bad sign? Clarity of fluid from the wound and change in skin color(beyond red) like white or blue or green skin are what clearly (no pun intended) indicate infection.

Its rare if a piercing doesnt have white or yellow ooze, extremely rare. The stuff that oozes from a piercing is the same stuff that oozes when you scrape your skin(lymph). It may be an early warning sign of infection, but if you keep your piercing clean it shouldnt turn into one. So basically, dont freak out by the stuff, worry when it turns funky colors.

And neverwishagain... piercing guns can not be cleaned enough to be considered sterile. They have been the root cause of many piercing problems, for numerous reasons.

Here is another thread that will explain some of the dangers of guns. There are so many there is no way I will type them all.
http://www.scarleteen.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/000966.html

They are not even appropriate for lobes, and by the way are being made illegal in some areas.

a tip of advise.......... Dont EVER take out your piercing and let itself close up if it is infected. That only traps the infection inside the body causeing your immune system to weaken. Clear up the infection first and then you can take it out if you still wish!
