Hi I’m 14 years old and whenever I’ve tried to masturbate or anything like that I have no feeling of “pleasure” and all I can feel is my hands rubbing my junk I’m just wondering if there is anything wrong with me and if I need to get it checked out

Hi Vin789,

Are you mentally aroused as well as physically when you try masturbating? In other words, is your brain super engaged in a fantasy, a piece of sexual media, or the experience in general? Or do you feel kind or bored or like it's hard to focus?

I’ve tried doing it while watching sexual media or fantasy and all that but it still just doesn’t work and I don’t get any feeling of euphoria or ejaculation , i am able to ejaculate as I have wet dreams but when I’m awake I am unable

Were you enjoying the media or fantasies you engaged with? Or did they themselves feel pretty uninteresting to you?

Too, can you give me a sense of how much you've experimented with different types of masturbation (positions, methods, sex toys, things like that)?

In terms of sexual fantasies and media I’ve found a few that I was interested in but when I tried masturbating I just felt nothing in my dick

In terms of masturbating I’ve mainly used my hands but have tried grinding something once or twice , this didn’t work either

Hi Vin789,

When you say you feel nothing are you meaning you are not feeling any pleasure? Or that you are feeling no sensation at all?

I want to circle back to something Sam mentioned above about how mentally engaged you are. The reason I want to go back to this is because our brain is actually the largest factor that dictates things like pleasure and arousal. So, when you are masturbating what do you tend to be thinking about? Are you present in the moment if you are watching porn that interests you? Or do you find yourself worrying and thinking about other things in your life?

To answer your first question Michaela I do have feeling just no pleasure, like sometimes people would be moaning from pleasure whereas I don’t feel any pleasure when I masturbate

And for the second question I’d say I’m present in the moment most times but then because I feel no physical pleasure from masturbation I get sidetracked and my mind can jump to other things, I’ve tried sticking with it and staying focused but it just felt like I got friction burn on my penis and still having no feeling of sexual pleasure

Hi there, Vin789

Let me touch back on Sam's question about different types of masturbation- I wonder if trying new ways of masturbating might help you. Here is a list of things you could try that I borrowed from this article:
People may and do stimulate the penis, scrotum, perineum, and/or anus:
  • With hands and fingers (usually with a lubricant or lotion), such as by stroking, rubbing, or slapping the shaft and base of the penis
  • By using something to surround the penis, such as a sex toy made for that purpose, or household objects like fruit skins, socks, or warm towels, or with suction, such as with a penis pump
  • With vibration or pulsation to the penis, scrotum, anus, or general genital area, either via vibrators or small vibrating objects, by sitting or leaning on larger vibrating items, or with water
  • With vibration, massage, or entry of the anus with hands or objects
Maybe you'll find another type of stimulation to be more pleasurable.

Also, pleasure isn't only about the genitals, it is really a whole body and mind experience- perhaps you could explore pleasurable sensations in other parts of your body.

One last thing, for now- using lube could help prevent that friction burn that you mentioned. You can read more about that here.
