Brown/dark brown discharge

This is the sixth day since I've been having this brown discharge. It started 20 days after my last period. At first, it was not that much, the second and third day it became heavier and it had a dark brown color, almost black. That third day, I saw a spot of red blood, so I thought maybe I was getting an early period, but after that it continued to be brown, lighter and lighter in color. Yesterday, the fifth day, it got dark again for 2 hours, but after that it got lighter again. I don't know what it could be. I have to mention that I had protected sex 11 days before this, I am not on a pill. Because I am so worried, I will go and get an abdominal ultrasound, but I wanted to know if anyone has any idea on what it could be. Sorry for my bad English, as it is not my primary language. Case closed, I think At the ultrasound, the doctor said that I have a progesterone deficiency and that that is the reason why my period was lighter than usual.
