You mentioned that you and your partner ran into issues when trying to have vaginal intercourse that you thought might be due to you being right. The vagina actually loosens if someone is aroused and relaxed (you can read more about that here: http://www.scarleteen.com/article/advice/a_few_choice_words_about_tightness) so if insertion is difficult that can sometimes mean you weren't all the ready for what was happening. Did you feel very aroused, or did you feel nervous or anxious?
