Hi nikki!

Good question!

On the one hand, I think working out what is a healthy relationship, is part of my journey through life, and through different relationships. Recognising what makes a positive, healthy relationship for us is one of the things we're always learning and adjusting our options of.

But I do think there are some things I'm pretty confident just claiming directly:

A healthy relationship is something which is good for the people involved.

It's really worth asking questions to get a clearer idea of if that applies to a relationship:

Does it make people in that relationship feel good?
Does it enrich their other relationships and connections with people outside the relationship or isolate them?
Do the people in the relationship feel able to set boundaries and have those boundaries respected without guilt?
Does the people in the relationship feel able to change the form of the relationship if they want to?
Do the people in the relationship feel safe to end the relationship if they want to?

We have some more focus on this topic here if you would like to give it a read:
