Intercourse during the bleeding

Unread post by PJ »

Hello Mates,

I had Intercourse with my girl friend on her 6th day of menstrual cycle. She had a pill and started to bleed on the 5th day. We again had intercourse on the 8th day and fingering in her vagina.

She started to bleed more once after the intercourse. I have a serious concern on her health and bit scared.

Please suggest is this is a serious problem do we have to visit doctor.

It's actually not uncommon for people to see increased menstrual flow after sexual activity.

That's because when people with a uterus get sexually excited -- especially if they orgasm -- the uterus contracts more, and that will increase flow. :)

Hi PJ,

Technically there is no limit to the number of times someone can take an emergency contraceptive pill. However, if they're having to take it multiple times in one month, that usually indicates that they need to add a different method of birth control into their sexual activity to make the emergency contraceptive unnecessary.

If she is having unexplained pain and she is unable to go to the bathroom, that is something she should check-in with a doctor about.

Hi again PJ.

I'm sorry to hear that this is affecting your confidence! The good news is, the average time it takes someone with a penis to reach orgasm is only a couple of minutes, so you might not actually be 'early' at all. And, even if it takes you less time than that, there's no rule that says sex has to end once you've had an orgasm: sex isn't just intercourse, and you can always switch to a different kind of sex for a while and then go back to intercourse again if you want. If you do want intercourse to last longer, one thing you could try is pausing for a few seconds when you feel like you're getting close to orgasm, and then starting again when that feeling has subsided.

You might also want to talk to your partner about how her comments are making you feel; it sounds like she's not being terribly understanding about your concerns.

We have a couple of pieces about this on the main site that you might find useful:
