My ex boyfriend (who is on the football team at our school)

Unread post by solareclipse94 »

There is this really sweet guy at my school. He and I started dating because we both liked each other. But one day he and i kissed and the next day he broke up with me. He told me that he and i could remain friends but he ignores me. I also catch him staring at me when im walking from one class to my next. I don't know what his problem is but if someone could tell me how to handle this situation, that would be great. (also, i still kinda like him. he was also my first kiss. and he is a football player for our school.) :D

I can't say for sure what his motivations are... but it doesn't sound like you are mishandling the situation at all.

What would you like to happen from here? If you can strike up a conversation with him it might be possible to start being friends (or asking him to quit staring at you!) but if he doesn't want to talk, you may need to let him go.

Hello Jacob,

Thanks. I've tried talking to him, but he ignores me every single time. I've even asked him if he and I could be friends, he said that we could. Also, a friend of mine is being hit on by him, and he told her (she told me the next day) that he likes ner and another girl. Later that same week, another friend of mine told me that Eric(my ex) still likes me.

I even told him that my bestfriend, Emerson (female), thinks that he and I should get back together. I told him about that, and we both agreed that he and I shouldn't get back together.

hey solareclipse,

I'm sorry that he's ignoring you when you try to speak to him. It sounds like his idea of being a friend is not very friendly.

You say you've agreed not to get back together, and from what you're describing that sounds like a good decision. Where do you want to go from here? It doesn't sound like you're finding your interactions very fulfilling, so how about pulling back a little and focusing on your other friendships?

Hello Siân,

Thank you for your advice. I want to focus on the friends that actually care about me as well as my studies.

Hi solareclipse,

I saw Jacob suggested you tell him to stop staring - have you tried that? I know it's tough when you're trying to get over someone and they act out, but it sounds like you're doing the right thing by focusing elsewhere. In time it will get easier, for real.
