Re: navigating sexual healthcare with toxic mother

Being it is sounding like open conversation with your mom about this is not likely going to be easy - let me link you an article first about how you can go about getting birth control on your own: https://www.scarleteen.com/article/advice/how_to_get_birth_control_privately_when_youre_a_teen_keep_con...

Re: Is it bad to want to stay and to detox a toxic friendship?

Hi mothman: Is this someone that you feel safe sitting down and talking to when they aren't angry? IE - if you do think there is a problem and you want to work on that problem, do you feel you can talk with them about the problem without them lashing out. If not, it's really tough to begin being abl...

Re: Shout-out: What I've done for MY Sexual Health recently

Okay, I will go first: As part of my whole-body health I have been working with my GYN and a nutritionist on finding a healthier me. I also have scheduled my yearly pap (which I will admit... I have not always been so good about being consistent on!)

Shout-out: What I've done for MY Sexual Health recently

Okay folks... HERE IT IS! Seldom do we shout out ourselves for the routine things we think we should be doing (like the sticker or lollipop you get for routine check-ups as a kid). So let's take a moment and congratulate ourselves and one another for those things we have done recently. :)

How about also asking him to call and talk to them? So many times health places deal with this phobia daily, it's something they likely have a protocol of things to try to kelp ease people into the process. It's really so important in terms of understanding where you are at a health standpoint to be...

Re: Very serious question

It is never wrong in any relationship to find what we need for ourselves and then ask that it happens. It sounds from everything read above that time and space would be good: allowing you to process and really figure out how you're feeling about what happened. It will also likely help you center you...

Re: Nonverbal Communication Help!

I think a lot of how comfortable partners is comes in with verbal as well as nonverbal. Being able to talk about sex and what makes each of you comfortable, your needs and wants, etc. before beginning to have sex. Also letting them know that if at any point they're not comfortable, it's okay to let ...

It may help too to have a list of questions you have written down before you call. That way you don't get off the phone and feel like you have to call back or go without an answer. But for sure, calling and talking to someone there is always a good idea in terms of insurance or payments.

Re: Accidental anal sex

Anal tissue is very delicate stuff, and unlike the vagina, it doesn't produce its own lubrication, so it's easy to injure. As far as STIs and bacterial infections go, anal sex is high risk. When you add blood to the picture, health risks are also increased. If you experience bleeding after anal sex ...

We generally will say that you want to wait a full month just to be on the safe side when starting the pill for the first time. If just switching brands, unless your prescribing physician suggested otherwise, this won't be any different than when you go from one months' pack to the next.

While I don't know your father, I do know that when parents find their children are growing up it can be a very scary thing for them. They can react in ways that hurt their kids, even though they don't necessarily mean to. It could be possible he needs some time to cool down from this, then he may b...

Re: Stretchy brown discharge

Sometimes infections can also cause this, but it's not uncommon around periods (even a week before) to sometimes have brown discharge. If you're worried though it won't hurt to touch base with your doctor. Remember too, sometimes our bodies will react differently once in a while.

Re: Relationship troubles after pregnancy scare

Hi dianne4312x:

Have you and your partner had some time to sit down and talk about things? If not, that needs to be your first step. Sometimes people don't even realize a partner feels like something is wrong. It may be he isn't noticing the same things you are.

Re: Stretchy brown discharge

Remember most cycles are 28 days when regular - because March has 31 days it's likely the start of your monthly bleed's discharge, which can often have a brownish tint as your body gets rid of old blood. If you're concerned you should talk to your doctor.
