Re: Tell us about your sex education experiences!

Scarleteen disables me from editing my posts past a certain point. So, I have to make this post as a correction to what I said in my first post in this thread. Recently, I did some research on sex education during the time and place where I had my formal health education, and I found out that it wou...

Re: Can you give consent if you intentionally get drunk?

I am receiving mixed messages. However, since Heather is the administrator, owner, and executive director of this website, I will prioritize her opinion. Like Heather said, I do not think Scarleteen is the right place for me to post topics of interest in my usual emotionally distant tone of voice. I...

Re: Can you give consent if you intentionally get drunk?

I think is very important to keep in mind that "marriage" does NOT equal consent. Being in a committed relationship doesn't mean that consent is unlimited nor irrevocable. I think I should really stop posting to this thread. But this post has triggered a thought in my head. I think the ma...

Re: Can you give consent if you intentionally get drunk?

Mellonhead, I hope you don't run off after one response. Here's a perspective as well. Basically 'no' is the short and simple answer. This is a hard and fast 'no' if you're not the one who decided to get drunk. Especially if you're not in a committed relationship, you just open yourself up to liabi...

Re: Can you give consent if you intentionally get drunk?

Sorry that I have to make this additional post, but what I said about alcohol dosage affecting the human ability to detect facial asymmetry is actually an observed phenomenon. Halsey, L. G., Huber, J. W., & Hardwick, J. C. (2012). Does alcohol consumption really affect asymmetry perception? A th...

Re: Can you give consent if you intentionally get drunk?

My apologies. I think I've just wasted everybody's time here by posting things under the impression that people can share their reflections based on what they read or observed, not using the website as a self-help service.

I think I am going to leave now, as I do not have any personal problems.

Can you give consent if you intentionally get drunk?

Can you give consent if you intentionally get drunk before sexual intercourse? I have been thinking that alcohol consumption may not be such a bad idea, especially during one's first sexual experience. Since one's first sexual experience is most likely going to have nervousness, is it okay to agree ...

Re: Questions about (female) orgasm

Given the number of questions you've been asking, Mellonhead, have you taken any time at all to go through the articles and advice answers on the main site? There's so much information there that you might find it a quicker way of getting your questions answered. For example, this piece on sexual r...

Re: Questions about (female) orgasm

Is really hard -- if not impossible -- to give a solid answer to a question like this. Sex is something that is going to be so different for everyone, just like a finger print. It could even be different for the same people in different times. There's people who are very loud when they have sex, be...

Questions about (female) orgasm

I have a couple of questions about orgasm. 1. How does a woman know she is having an orgasm, when she has never had an orgasm before? 2. How are vocalizations during orgasm different from vocalizations before orgasm? 3. Is the main point of pornographic sex to reach orgasm? This seems to be a common...

What is a planned pregnancy? (Study inside!)

In 2002, there was a British study concerning the application of the term "planned" by pregnant women. In the study, women applied the term "planned" only if they had met four key criteria. Intending to become pregnant and stopping contraception were not sufficient criteria, in t...

Re: Circumcision and body image

Don't feel too bad about yourself. Most penises in Internet pornography I've seen all appear to be circumcised.

A lot of American men and boys have circumcised penises. This is not necessarily the case elsewhere, provided that the male (or person with the penis) is not Jewish or Muslim.

Sexual identity of the woman who married a bridge

Not too long ago, I heard of a woman who married a bridge. A literal bridge. Is there a term for people who marry or fall in love with inanimate objects?

I wonder how a woman and a bridge would consummate the relationship.

Re: Does sexuality just apply to humans or all living things

Sexuality is WAY more than reproduction, and for humans (and, as you already know, some animals), more often than not it's not about reproduction at all. This question about your gardening is...well, I don't really know what to do with it save to say that unless you have feelings of sexual desire o...

Re: Does a locked thread count towards banning?

On this subject, I am reminded of an incidence at school. I eavesdropped on two simultaneous conversations at the coffee shop of the library. In both Christian groups, they talked about homosexuality in a semi-whisper. However, one Christian group was about coming-out stories and finding a new spiri...

Re: Does a locked thread count towards banning?

Yes, I understand. Sexuality tends to have pretty sensitive issues, and if one is not careful, one can accidentally step into one's personal life. People generally can get extremely defensive when they think you are invading their personal life or questioning their life, and as a result, they expect...

Does a locked thread count towards banning?

I recently discovered one of my threads became locked. Does that count towards banning? I tried to contact Heather, but there was no private message option. Anyway, I just want to tell Heather that I am sorry for making the offensive suggestion. I would also like to make a small correction: that I a...

There is always adoption or having a surrogate. Those are the same options that same-sex couples use.

Re: Does the penis really need guidance during sex?

I think it's just easier to do in vitro fertilization. Sheldon Cooper on the Big Bang Theory may have proposed that instead of coitus, he would simply go through in vitro fertilization. It may sound ludicrous, but I actually think that is a very good idea. At least coitus wouldn't be an issue any mo...

Does the penis really need guidance during sex?

I once asked this question somewhere else in cyberspace, and someone responded that "the penis is not a guided missile; the vagina is not an open maw". In other words, a man cannot really have vaginal intercourse unless he guides the penis into the vagina, presumably with his hands. But wh...

Too, I wouldn't discount social factors, as those often play a large role in how people relate to their bodies and what they view as normal or desirable. I suppose a problem may arise when the social climate provokes severe discontent in the person, but sometimes the social circle of friends and fa...

Re: Does sexuality just apply to humans or all living things

When you say sexuality, do you mean something closer to sexual orientation? Or do you mean just "engaging in behavior that is sexual"? Assuming the latter definition, would my assisting in the self-pollination of a fast-growing mustard plant be an expression of my sexuality or the plant's...

Re: Would a longer penis aid in reproduction?

Maybe this is one of those issues that highlights a difference between medicine and biology. In biology, a person may have a dysfunction when it prevents the person from successfully reproducing. In medicine, a person tells the doctor that there is something wrong that needs to be fixed. Of course, ...

Would a longer penis aid in reproduction?

I wasn't aware of the desire to have a longer penis before I visited pornographic websites out of curiosity. When I checked out a pornographic website, I refused to click on the actual videos. Merely watching the sexually explicit advertisements in the sidebar was enough for me to get a basic idea o...
