Penis questions

anonymous asks:

Hi, I'm 17, male. I have a curved penis. Is that abnormal? Will it cause problems in sex?

Also, I am uncircumsized. I like leaving my penis exposed to the extent I can. but then by the end of the day the skin swells up! What should i do?

What is the normal penis size for guys my age? Does a huge penis cause problems? Mine is about 7 inches.

Thanks for the time and effort.

Paul replies:

Dear Confused,

It is perfectly normal to have a curved penis. Also, some erect penises point up and some point down. Guys will occassionally think that their curve or the direction of their erection has something to do with the way they masturbate. This is not true. It has to do with a decision that Mother Nature made while you were still in the womb.

One of the important things for any guy--whether his penis is straight or curved--is to communicate with his partner about what feels good and what doesn't. You might find that there are certain positions that actually play to your curve and provide a partner with stimulation that feels particularly nice for him or her. But you will never find out if you don't learn to talk with each other about what feels good and what doesn't.

I'm not sure why you want to keep your foreskin back. I'm hoping you don't feel embarrassed or strange about having a foreskin, as there are a lot of men who don't have them who wish they did. Foreskins have lots of extra nerve endings in them, and an important job that they do is to protect the head of your penis. They help keep it moist and sensitive. Guys without foreskins have to develop a layer of thick dead skin in order to protect the head of their penises. Foreskins can also help with intercourse.

I'm not sure what to say about normal penis size, given how we usually judge them on length alone, when they vary by width as well. While 7" isn't going to put you in the upper 1%, it's longer than most, and it's a length most guys would be very happy to have.

As for your 7" causing problems--any penis of any size can cause problems if a guy is selfish about how he uses it. Learn to be a loving and kind partner, and your 7" will most likely do you well in life. But that's true for a 5" penis, too!

Best wishes,
