Can you still get pregnant if he just blew his load during a blowjob?

Gloria asks:

Say you give a guy a blowjob and he cums and stuff. But then right after, you start having sex again. Can you possibly get pregnant that way?

Susie replies:

YES. Just because he fired once doesn't mean he's totally shooting blanks afterwards.

After a guy ejaculates, there can be sperm lodged in the urethra that won't escape till later (usually during urination). Suppose your guy ejaculated after the blowjob. Some sperm are going to get stuck in the urethra. Then if you have unprotected sex right after that, those sperm can come out when he's releasing pre-ejaculate. Those sperm can get you pregnant.

Even if no sperm come out with his pre-ejaculate, they can come out with his next load of semen. Not all the sperm are expended with that first load. Less-matured sperm can still be ejaculated with the next batch of semen before they're really ready. Not only can these sperm get you pregnant, they're more likely to have defects, meaning if you do get pregnant, you might miscarry or you might conceive a fetus with some problems (like aneuploidy).

In short, if you are not on any kind of hormonal birth control, you should assume that any direct contact between your vagina and his penis equal some risk of getting pregnant. And we haven't even gotten to the subject of STDs yet! If you and you partner have not been tested for infection lately, you ought to schedule an appointment at the clinic together. Otherwise unprotected oral sex and coitus are a real risk of infections.

If you intend to prevent unwanted pregnancy and infections, please adopt the practice of using a flavored condom during oral sex. Then when you want to switch to sexual intercourse, change the condom before you have a go at it. that way you and your partner minimize the risks in your sexual activity.
